Zayn Malik Debuts ‘Alienated’ With Exclusive Live Performance Video

Zayn Malik, the former One Direction sensation, has treated fans to a fresh sonic offering with the release of his latest single, “Alienated.” The track serves as the second glimpse into his upcoming fourth studio album, ‘Room Under The Stairs,’ scheduled to hit the shelves on May 17, 2024.

In “Alienated,” Malik flaunts his vocal finesse with smooth, laid-back falsettos, set against a backdrop hinting at country-folk influences. Yet, he eschews categorization, striving instead to craft his authentic music in captivating, individualistic styles. Reflecting on the song’s creation, Malik shared, “‘Alienated’ was the first song I wrote for the album, so it kind of set the tone for the whole project. It shaped the way I wanted to approach the sound of my own voice, the styling of the guitars and the overall sonic direction.”

In the introspective track, Zayn questions, “Can you let me be intoxicated on my own?/Do I need to answer or right my wrongs? Am I home if I don’t know this place?” Backed by a simple beat, the track captures Malik’s raw emotions as he croons the chorus, “I’ve been feeling alienated on my spaceship alone/Say goodbye to the past/Leave it all with a laugh,” revealing his journey of bidding adieu to yesteryears while grappling with feelings of isolation and yearning for connection.

Zayn Malik has predominantly allowed his music to speak for itself since embarking on his solo journey in 2016. Despite his widespread appeal as a global heartthrob, he has favoured delivering his art through recordings rather than live performances and tours, a choice he has openly discussed in the past. However, with the imminent release of his new album, a new outlook emerges, and we’re embracing it wholeheartedly!

For the devoted Zquad eagerly anticipating Malik’s return to the stage, their wait is finally over. Zayn pleasantly surprised his fans by delivering a live performance video showcasing a stunning rendition of his latest single ‘Alienated’, released concurrently, offering a delightful treat for his devoted fanbase. Perhaps those Zayn Malik tour rumours are true after all, and if they are, you’ll undoubtedly catch us in the front row, cheering our hearts out! Come by and say hello! 😉

Scheduled for release via Mercury Records, ‘Room Under The Stairs’ promises a total of 15 tracks, including the lead single “What I Am” and standout titles like “Alienated,” “My Woman,” “Something in the Water,” “Dreamin’,” “Fuchsia Sea,” and more. Malik expressed his excitement for the album, stating in a previous statement, “This is my favourite album that I’ve made to date, mainly because it comes from a place of sheer honesty and vulnerability.”

Teasing listeners with a glimpse into the creative process, Malik praised co-producer Dave Cobb for his contributions to elevating the album’s sound. “I wanted each song to feel as if it was just me sitting beside you telling you how I feel, singing directly to you. It’s raw and stripped back and the type of music I always hoped to make.” He added that working with Cobb “has been an amazing experience,” elaborating, “The way he’s elevated the music is second to none, and he has done an incredible job helping me create this record.” “I hope we can take listeners on some whimsical, magical journey, and that they enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it,” he concludes.

As anticipation mounts for the album’s release, Malik continues to captivate audiences with his musical evolution and introspective lyricism. With “Alienated” serving as another poignant addition to his discography, fans eagerly await the full experience promised by ‘Room Under The Stairs’ on May 17.
