SHAHDADPUR: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari once again lambasted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and its supremo Nawaz Sharif and took a swipe at the PML-N by stating that the ‘lion’ (PML-N’s electoral symbol) is hiding like a cat and prefers someone else to do the hunting for him.
Speaking at a public meeting in Shahdadpur, Bilawal asserted, “Only Jiyalas [loyalists] are present in the electoral field and fully prepared to contest the general polls”.
Bilawal characterized the PML-N as a bloodsucking lion seeking the blood of laborers, farmers, and the nation, emphasizing their election symbol of ‘lion’ in Punjab and the ‘star’ (the electoral symbol of the Grand Democratic Alliance) in Sindh as its enabler.
Bilawal urged the nation to grant a substantial mandate to the PPP on February 8, encouraging voters to choose PPP candidates in all constituencies from Karachi to Kashmore. With a decisive majority, he asserted that the PPP would have the authority to carry out public welfare tasks with full force.
Highlighting the party’s commitment to a comprehensive economic plan, Bilawal emphasized the PPP’s 10-point agenda, promising to increase income, expand the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) coverage, provide 300 free electricity units to all families through solar power generation, and offer interest-free loans to women.
Drawing from his experience as a former foreign minister, Bilawal claimed that during his 18 months in the federal capital, he observed that public funds were not being utilized for the welfare of the nation.
He pledged to abolish 17 ministries and subsidies for the elite, redirecting funds towards public welfare projects if the PPP is elected.
Bilawal concluded by expressing confidence in becoming the prime minister once the nation votes PPP candidates into power. He administered an oath to PPP candidates to prioritize serving the nation over their families after winning the upcoming polls.
