Mia Thornton Gets Engaged to Younger Boyfriend Amid Divorce from Her Husband!
Real Housewives of Potomac star Mia Thornton is stirring up excitement with wedding plans for 2024.
Mia Thornton, 39, made her relationship Instagram official on Sunday, sharing a photo with her new man in a sexual embrace. Intriguingly, she captioned the image “4.4.4” telling us that she’s getting married on April 4, 2024, as a significant date. Her post also included the enthusiastic words, “Let’s Go!” followed by “2024.”
While Mia Thornton kept the identity of her new partner under wraps, her Real Housewives of Potomac co-stars were quick to celebrate the news. Ashley Darby commented, “The hardest soft launch 🔥🔥,” and Gizelle Bryant expressed her excitement with “Okkkkkkkk! 2024 coming in hottttt!”
Mia was seen wearing a sparkling diamond ring in the photo, the same one she sported at BravoCon 2023 in November. Addressing speculation about the ring during her December appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Mia clarified that it wasn’t an engagement ring but a symbol of commitment.
However, before any wedding bells can ring, Mia needs to finalize her divorce from her husband of 11 years, Gordon Thornton. She announced their separation in September, confirming that the decision, made in June, was mutual. She opened up to Andy Cohen about the role financial struggles played in their marital issues, admitting that money problems over the past few years had strained their relationship.
During the Real Housewives of Potomac season 7 reunion in February, Mia shared the financial hardships they faced after Gordon’s brothers allegedly ousted him from their joint business, The Joint Chiropractic. The season followed Mia and Gordon as they downsized to a smaller rental home and sought couple’s therapy to navigate their disagreements.
Mia expressed on the show how their relationship dynamics had shifted, particularly after Gordon’s departure from the family business. She highlighted the tension caused by their increased work focus and Gordon’s reluctance to retire, despite her desire for him to spend more time being a great father.
Gordon, for his part, explained to their therapist his commitment to providing a secure financial future for Mia and their children, a goal disrupted by the loss of the business. He admitted to pushing hard to achieve the economic stability he envisioned for his family.
Mia also admitted that therapy, featured in season 8, unfortunately exacerbated their issues. Despite these challenges, Mia and Gordon have found success in co-parenting their children. They share son Jeremiah Carter, 8, and daughter Juliana, 6, and each has a child from previous relationships.
On Watch What Happens Live, Mia emphasized the positive aspect of their co-parenting, saying, “The kids are great,” and highlighting that they are “co-parenting very well.” She also mentioned their effective communication, countering any public misconceptions.
