Wendy Williams‘ best friend, Regina Shell, has accused the ailing TV host’s legal guardian of neglecting her duties.
She claimed that the legal guardian, whose name is Sabrina Morrissey, often left Williams without food. This situation reportedly spurred her to send food to Willams across the country.
Shell also slammed the recent reports that claimed Williams had frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia.
Wendy Williams’ Legal Guardian Allegedly Left Her Without Food
According to the Daily Mail, Williams’ close pal, Shell, recently spoke out against the former show host’s treatment under her legal guardianship.
Shell alleged that Morrisey restricted Williams’ access to her money, meaning that the TV personality would go without food for hours due to waiting for her order to be approved.
“When I was in New York and staying with Wendy in the summer, I noticed … she had no access to her money. Every time she had to do anything she had to pay for, she had to go through the guardian,” Shell said during her Monday appearance on Chris Cuomo’s NewsNation series “Cuomo.”
She added, “And she would call to order her breakfast at 7:30 in the morning with the guardian, and she would take the order, but the order wouldn’t show up until sometimes noon. So Wendy wouldn’t have any food.”
Wendy Williams’ Best Friend Claims She Sent Food To The TV Host
Unable to see her friend stuck without food, Shell reportedly sent Willams food when she returned to her base.
“When I went back to LA, I would have to send her food from Los Angeles to New York for delivery service because she wasn’t getting….” she said. “That’s what was concerning to me because [Williams] was telling me she didn’t have food.”
Shell added that Williams’ publicist also threw in some help to ensure the former show host wasn’t starving.
She remarked further, “[Me] and her publicist, who also lives out in LA, both of us were going back and forth sending food to Wendy because she wasn’t having access to food.”
Besides Shell, Williams’ sister, Wanda Finnie, and her documentary producer, Mark Ford, have expressed dissatisfaction with Williams’ legal guardianship. They both proposed that the TV host should be placed with family instead.
The Former TV Host Was Diagnosed With Dementia And Aphasia
In the meantime, Williams’ care team has disclosed that the daytime talk show legend is suffering from dementia and aphasia, the same conditions that Hollywood star Bruce Willis is reported to have.
“Wendy would not have received confirmation of these diagnoses were it not for the diligence of her current care team, who she chose, and the extraordinary work of the specialists at Weill Cornell Medicine. Receiving a diagnosis has enabled Wendy to receive the medical care she requires,” a statement from her representatives read, per USA Today.
While such an illness is expected to hamper Williams from being actively conscious about her day-to-day activities, a follow-up statement from her reps revealed that is not the case for the TV legend.
They claimed she is still “able to do many things for herself,” including choosing the “members of her care team.” They also said that she greenlighted the statement about her diagnosis.
Why Wendy Williams’ Best Friend Won’t Believe The TV Host Has Dementia
In her interview, Shell questioned the care team’s diagnosis, saying she has yet to see an official report from a doctor.
“You know, I’ve heard from [her] team – and we don’t know who the team is – and from Kevin and her nephew, Travis, but no doctor has actually confirmed these diagnoses,” Shell said.
However, she went on to say that it was plausible that Williams did have the ailment, adding that her doubt might be because of her closeness to the 59-year-old.
“Maybe I’m in denial because I’m so close to the issue,” Shell continued. “In reflection, I see the behaviors that could potentially be [from] such a diagnosis, but I don’t want to believe that she is in, at this point, unproducible. That’s not my opinion.”
While there is no official statement as to how Williams’ dementia and aphasia came about, her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., has claimed that it was “alcohol-induced.”
