Pakistan Braces for Storms, Rain, Wind in Multiple Regions

Pakistan’s Weather Department has issued a storm alert, predicting a series of rain, wind, and thunderstorms across regions including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, and northern Balochistan.

The Weather Department anticipates isolated heavy rain showers in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir within the next day, while dust storms are forecasted to sweep across the country’s southern regions.

The predicted moderate to severe rain showers could potentially trigger landslides in areas such as upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. These weather conditions are expected to impact vulnerable areas from the evening of March 29 to March 30.

The forecasted windstorms, hailstorms, and lightning pose a threat to standing crops and loose structures, including electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels. Tourists and farmers are advised to exercise caution during this period.

As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave impacting the western and upper parts of the country is expected to persist until March 31.

In the past 24 hours, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north Balochistan, upper and central Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan have experienced rain, wind, and thunderstorms. Other parts of the country have reported partly cloudy weather.
